This aluminum check valve is based on a design used by Velocette for many years.
This spring loaded check valve opens as soon as the engine is started. The valve is 3 1/8" long from end-to-end, with a 1 1/2" long body.
To fit:
Drain the oil tank. Cut the oil-tank-to-engine oil feed line and remove approximately 1 1/2"
(on a Norton twin engine, this is the outer oil line on the crankcase junction block) and fit
the valve in the line with the ARROW (As shown in picture) pointing towards the engine.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to prime the valve, the oil line to the engine, before starting the engine after installation or if the bike has been
sitting for an extended period of time. The valve has a hex nut on each end so you can unscrew the top of the valve and feed
oil into the lower part to prime the feed line.
Failure to do this important operation could cause SERIOUS DAMAGE to the motor.
We highly recommend having an oil pressure gauge installed when using any inline anti-drain check valve.
For pricing and more information on the advantages of having an oil pressure gauge, see Old Britts Oil
Gauge and Mount.
If you do not have an oil pressure gauge, after you start the engine, you must check that the oil is returning to the oil tank
for at least five minutes.
If your bike does not have an oil filter installed, while the oil tank is drained, it may be beneficial to fit our replacement cartridge-type
oil filter kit (06-4283).
